HortiFoodInclusion:

Sense-based VET-Materials in Horticulture and Food
Processing: better job opportunities for people with special needs

Equal access to VET…

… is a basic prerequisite for successful inclusion. Concerning the current teaching-learning materials in Vocational Educational Training (VET), the focus often lies on reading as the main source of new knowledge (and partly listening). But quite some learners struggle with these “classical” ways of learning, especially if they face learning disabilities or other challenges like e.g. hearing impairments. But we have way more options to learn: we can experience things by making better use of our senses!

Adapted and tailor-made teaching materials support the accessibility of VET content for people with learning disabilities and/or hearing impairments and strengthens their later job opportunities.

The HortiFoodInclusion project aims at providing knowledge and ideas for teachers and trainers in the vocational field of horticulture and food processing for creating sense-based teaching materials (e.g. haptic, acoustic, visual)

Additionally, these topics provide a good opportunity to discuss sustainability issues as well as circular economy and therefore, the gained knowledge also enables learners to adjust to a more sustainable way of life.

So join us on our journey towards better accessible teaching materials for horticulture and food processing!
